In <3irreh$rne@lll-winken.llnl.gov>, Sam Trenholme (set@oryx.llnl.gov)
felt it appropriate to spew the following onto the screen:

=ObStayAwayKevinMitnickHack:

=as a user (it's in ~/bin, not /usr/local/bin). So I replaced tcsh with a
=program I wrote myself, which generates a one-time password, and will
=only execute a real shell if you type in the correct one-time password.
=Since my shell is not in /etc/shells, a cracker can't get in through
=FTP-- the FTP daemon thinks I have a "sorry" shell.

So how do you ftp to/from this machine (or is that one of the breaks of
having a more secure system)?

=I'll mail it to anyone who wants it-- it's still a hack. For example, it
=core dumps if it doesn't see certain files in your home directory. The
=program obviously needs work before I post it to comp.sources.unix

I'd like to see it (being the hopeless UNIX junkee that I am :-)

ObCTSHack: I'm experiencing the onset of CTS symptoms. I haven't went to a
doctor yet (I'm waiting until I get hired to a place with nice medical
benefits so I can have my insurance help with one of those noce ergonomic
keyboards :-) and so have not had any professional help. So I'm sitting
in the lab typing complaining to a fellow lab assistant when he says
"Just use those old DOS manuals as hand rests." I'll be damned if it
didn't help. They're about an inch and a half high (just the right
height) and are not too wide that they won't fit on the desk.

My views aren't USF's or the College of Education's. They like me but not
enough to let me speak for them :-)
