First post to this newsgroup. It was this easy ? OBHack: The front porch light burned out. No problem, just replace the bulb. No, it broke, leaving the base of the bulb in the socket, probably due to some corrosion due to Houston's high humidity. Attempts to free the bulb base with needle nose pliers are unsuccesful, making removing the fixture looking like the only way out. :-< Scrounging around in the junk box, I find an old seat for the previous set of bath tub faucets, with a neoprene ring on the tapered end of the seat. The diameter is just right to insert into the broken bulb's base and unscrew it, with the neoprene ring providing the friction. Success ! --Jerry, Gerald (Jerry) R.
