Yes, yet another person majoring in the bleedin' obvious  :)

ObHack:
There is a little VAX program called MSG.EXE around which lets you pop a
message up on any users screen by using the decphone protocol, even if you
do not have the necessary system privileges.  I used a small .COM (batch) file
in conjuction with the DELIVER mail processing system to strip off the username
of anyone who sent me a mail message, write it to a temporary file along with
a message, and then MSG that to the user.  It used a lexical to check if I was
logged in at the time, and sent a different message back if I wasn't.
